The route
Day 1 Saturday: Check in by 17.00 Dinner in Kos marina.
Day 2 Sunday: Breakfast, shopping in the morning, we set sails around noon, heading towards the island of Telendos. If time allows we check the climbing routes here.
Day 3 Monday: We discover more climbing areas here. . A short sailing (about 2 hrs) to the island of Kalymnos. If the wind strength and direction are good we can anchor in Arginonta, one of the famous climbing areas in Kalymnos. We anchor and go ashore by dinghy (or swimming, if one prefers), to explore the climbing crags. I would have a night’s beer at the little restaurant near the pebble beach.
Day 4 Tuesday: More climbing on Kalymnos, Grande Grotta. By popular demand we can take a short sail in the evening, practice MOB (man overboard) maneuver, learn some sailing, and return to anchor in Arginonta bay.
Day 5 Wendsday: By noon we sail 2-3 hours to Vathis and dock here. Vathis is one of our favorite places on Kalymnos, with magnificent limestone raising directly from the water, with caves where the bravest can try deep water solo.
Day 6 Thursday: We sail back to Kalymnos to Sykati Cave (3 hours of sailing) and explore the climbing there. We can take the boat out and learn some sailing in the evening. Party and relax on the sand beach in Sykati area.
Day 7 Friday: From Sykati we sail back to Kos, not without stopping for a lunch at anchor on the island of Pserimos. 4-5 hours of sailing, depending on wind strength and direction. Accommodation on the boat in Kos Marina.
The route we are proposing here is morea of a masterplan rather than a promise. When we depend on the wind to sail, we are flexible. In otther words, we will adapt our destinations and arrival time to best use the wind direction. The Capitan will make the sail plan each evening for the next day.
You will have the freedom to discover climbing spots in Kalymnos and Telendos islands, including some of the best in the World: Grande Grotta, Sikati, Arginonta, Militiades.
I AM INTERESTEDOur evenings
Evenings will always have their magic, but there are at least two kinds of magic. We either dock in a port or a marina for the evening, and in this case we will have the freedom to explore ashore the true Greek cuisine and the party evenings. Or, the second kind of magic, we will set our anchor in a secluded bay where we will have time to cook by our self, to swim, to go ashore with our dinghy boat and party to our taste.)
Where do we sleep
While with Happy Sailing, our boat will be your home for a week! With double beds cabins, few bathrooms, a small kitchen and a living room, aboard our ship you can have all the comfort you would expect from a guest house but in a small space. A typical sailing boat will feature one cabin in the front and two in the back having 1 to 3 toilets (heads). However, we will choose the boat size that is most suitable for the group.)
Our food
Eating in a tavern or restaurant in a port is an experience by its own. If you have tasted Greek cuisine already, you know what we mean. And if you didn't, then expect fresh fish and sea food, expect everything to have a great taste and expect to want more!
In the same time we will cook on the boat! In the mornings a quick breakfast, our lunches too, but also some of the evenings when we will stay at anchor. So, don't forget to bring along your cooking skills or be ready to participate in cooking together.)
